Cimarron Metropolitan District

Wide Open Spaces

Candelas is designed so that each and every home is no more than a half-mile from one of our parks. The inviting parks of Candelas offer everything from tot lots and multi-purpose turf fields to playgrounds, climbing boulders and fitness stations. And for water fun, Welton Reservoir and Standley Lake are just minutes away. In other words, spontaneous family playtime is right outside your front door.

A big part of Candelas life is strapping on your hiking boots (or running shoes, or cycling shoes, or snowshoes) and heading outdoors for fun. A total of 13.5 miles of trails meander all throughout Candelas, and every one of them presents an opportunity to take a walk, jog, bike ride or hoof it on horseback. You can stay within the familiar confines of Candelas and explore all parts of the community, or enjoy direct access to open space lands and trails at the gateway of the Rockies.

Open Space

Candelas is a place of wide-open spaces interrupted by nothing that detracts from its natural beauty. There is approximately 193 acres of open space located within the District's boundaries available for residents to explore at their leisure. Residents may even find a population of active wildlife in the open spaces that provide great opportunities for educational outdoor excursions.

Community Garden

Located on the western edge of Candelas Canyon Open Space, the Candelas community garden will cultivate and enrich our community, while embracing our natural resources of wide open space and commitment to sustainably-raised seasonal fruits and vegetables. Our garden will provide opportunity and a place for all to contribute to the efforts of our community's well-being. The summer months will host lessons and lectures in the garden from local experts.
